Today, we celebrate World Ocean Day, and here at Harlyn Sands Holiday Park, there’s no better place to honour it than on the beautiful Atlantic coast we’re lucky enough to call home.
Perched on the edge of Trevose Headland near Padstow, our holiday park is surrounded by sweeping views of Harlyn Bay. We’re also walking distance from Cornwall’s most stunning beaches – Constantine Bay, Booby’s Bay, and beyond. But World Ocean Day is more than just a moment to appreciate the beauty around us. It’s a global reminder that our oceans are precious, powerful, and in need of protection.
Why the Ocean Matters
The ocean produces over half of the world’s oxygen and absorbs around 30% of the carbon dioxide we produce. It regulates our climate, supports countless species of marine life, and sustains the livelihoods of millions. And here in Cornwall, it also brings joy, connection, and unforgettable family memories – from rock pooling and sandcastle building to surfing and seaside strolls.
Our Responsibility as Coastal Stewards
At Harlyn Sands, we feel a deep responsibility to care for the coastline and the sea that surrounds us. That’s why we always encourage our guests to take small but meaningful steps. Whether it’s joining in a beach clean, saying no to single-use plastics, or simply respecting local wildlife while enjoying the water.
This year’s World Ocean Day theme is all about “Catalysing Action for Our Ocean & Climate”. A perfect call to arms for communities like ours who are directly connected to the coastline. Every visit to Cornwall is a chance to fall in love with the ocean again, and to help protect it.
Celebrate With Us
If you’re joining us this season, make time to explore the beaches, breathe in the salty sea air, and remind yourself just how lucky we are. Share your favourite ocean moments with us using #HarlynSands – we’d love to see your beachy memories!
Happy World Ocean Day from all of us here at Harlyn Sands 🌊💙
