Opting to buy a preloved static over a brand new one has many benefits, but firstly, it’s important to be sure who your van will be used by – is it an investment/ holiday let? Is it for a weekend getaway for yourself? Is it for a family with children (do they need separate rooms?) Or is it for a romantic escape for a couple?
One of the key benefits of purchasing a preloved caravan is the money you could save (potentially thousands) that could be put into the pot to spend whilst enjoying your time in the caravan. Though it’s not always necessary to upgrade the specification of a preloved caravan, quite often it is in fact possible to get “more for your money”, with a higher quality finish and furnishings than your budget might allow when buying brand new.
If you’re looking to rent out your van, it’s important to consider the target market and their needs. Other things to consider when buying a preloved caravan:
How old is the caravan?
What did the previous owners use the van for?
Think about the wear and tear of a van that has been used year round compared to that of a van used occasionally at weekends.
What repairs have been completed if any?
Service history of any appliances. Just like you would at home, gas appliances must be checked annually for safety.
Pitch sizes – can your chosen van fit on our available pitches?
Park fees – if you buy a preloved van from us, your 2021 pitch fees are included.
Maintenance and servicing costs
Insurance – must be fit for purpose.
